We’ve been a queer-friendly, lesbian-owned hair salon in the Castro (San Francisco, California) for almost 20 years. We curate & offer our clients organic, cruelty-free haircare + self-affirming cuts & color for all genders. We do ‘totally normal’ colors’ up to ‘WTF hyper neon fantasy color combos & patterns’). We’re community-rooted & we love working with our clients to help everyone find and lock-in on their own personal identity, so everyone can live life as their truest, best-looking selves.

Hell yeah. Spunk Salon is proud to be a part of the queer community . We’re a small lesbian-owned business designed as an inclusive, affirming space for QTBIPOC and ally communities. We provide safe services and a supportive space for refugees. Everyone is welcome here, without judgment or assumptions.

Do you take walk-ins? Can I book online?
We accept walk-ins when possible, but booking ahead online or via text is recommended. You can book online for haircuts, color, consultations, and more. We're located at 4147 19th Street, San Francisco, CA 94114—just a few blocks from Castro Muni.

Q: Can I buy products online if I don’t live nearby?
Yes. We ship across the U.S. and offer the same high-quality brands online as we do in the salon. Every order directly supports our queer-owned business. Click on any logo on our homepage to grab some stuff & thanks for your support!

Q: Is Spunk Salon safe for immunocompromised clients?
Yes. We take your safety seriously. Our space is mask-welcoming, and available for low-sensory appointments upon request. Just let us know what you need—we’re here to accommodate with care.

Q: What kind of products do you carry?
We love animals and people - so we curate and stock high-performance, cruelty-free brands like Nutrafol, Kevin Murphy, Eleven Australia, Virtue, Davines, Hairstory, and Barb. Most are vegan and organic, and all are stylist-tested—no toxic fluff, no greenwashing no pink-washing.
